Our Career Day on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. This is an annual event that our staff and students look forward to each spring. This is also an opportunity for students to be exposed to careers which they have never considered or even heard about and a chance for our community to reach out to youth to support them in achieving their goals.
We’d like to congratulate MIKE FLORIO for being selected as Chavez’s Teacher of the Year! And congratulate MARIANNE SENTENO for being selected as Chavez’s Classified Employee of the Year!!!
Thank you to these two awesome individuals for making our students’ lives better and our school community a more positive place to be!
Digital media and technology are evolving at a rapid pace, both opening up extraordinary opportunities and posing real risks for young people. Students are using the power of the internet to explore, learn, connect, and create in ways never before imagined- both in and out of the classroom. However, issues that emerge from this constant “connected culture” are important to address. It’s our role to educate youth about these risks so that they are fully informed users of technology. Well done, 8th gr AVID standouts! Mrs. Andersen has been working with two 8th grade AVID students, Cathy and Josue A., to teach Cornell Notes lessons to sixth graders. One of the teachers was kind enough to share this feedback: Cathy and Josue visited my class last Friday to model how to annotate the text, take notes, and formulate questions. It was very impressive. Both were amazingJ They kept a steady pace and interacted extremely well with the whole class. They both poised great confidence and knowledge. Students were engaged; commenting that they made it easy to understand.
Thank you ASB! For getting around to the classrooms and sharing information about the Zero Waste program.
