DONATE YOUR CLOTHES AND SHOES!
In the next few days there will be a yellow bin outside of Student Services. This bin is sponsored by Planet Aid. Gently used clothes and shoes can be donated to this bin.
Planet Aid sponsors the bin and the clothes that are donated are used to pay for education/ teachers in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The donations are also used to feed and clothe these poverty stricken countries.
The other awesome thing about the bin is that every pound of clothes donated earns 2 cents for PLUS (Peer Leaders Uniting Students), a leadership group on campus.
When you are cleaning out your closet, remember the yellow Planet Aid bin and DONATE!
There will be NO SCHOOL from November 24th - 28th

Sock Drive Begins
Our Careers class at Chavez is collecting NEW socks to donate to families in shelters around Oceanside. How wonderful to know that your efforts will help families in need during this holiday season!
Socks -Any Seasons, Any Color, Any Size (as long as they are new) will do. Socks are an important part of health and a constant need on a daily basis. Whether it’s a single pair or a multi pack of new socks, we will take it! We are asking for Men’s and Women’s socks (dressy and sporty), kids and infants. Black, white, print, fuzzy slipper, team, or cartoon, you choose.
Our Sock drive is only possible because generous people just like you engage their friends, family, neighbors, and our school to care about their fellow man. It is important for everyone to volunteer and get involved in their communities.
It just feels good to put on a new pair of socks, and we believe this warm and comfortable feeling can help raise self-esteem and relieve stress during this cold season.
Donations can be dropped off in the collection bins located at E-3 Careers, office, Student Store, library or given to any student to bring to school.
Our Sock Drive will go from November 19 through December 12.
Remember, Every pair of socks matters!!

Common Core Parent Information
California is one of 45 states nationwide to adopt the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English/Language Arts and mathematics. This shift in teaching has been characterized by some as “the most significant change to classroom instruction since 1998,” when California first adopted its own academic standards. Click the Common Core link above to learn more about the standards and how the Oceanside Unified School District is implementing Common Core in the classroom.
New and Returning Student Registration
Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) has begun the implementation of optional ONLINE REGISTRATION for new students and ONLINE DATA CONFIRMATION for currently enrolled students. Our goal is to make this process more convenient for our families and your busy schedules. Your site will provide information to you regarding this optional process.
If you do not have access to a computer and you prefer to complete the process, as you have done in the past, by using the paper packets, we can provide that to you as well.
If your student is currently enrolled in OUSD, you will simply need to confirm their registration. If you need assistance doing this, please contact us.
