Cesar Chavez Middle School Walk Audit

    Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 @ 7:35am

    What is a walk audit?

The Oceanside Safe Routes to School program is a project of the City of Oceanside. Over the next year, the Oceanside Safe Routes to School team will be collecting information from all public schools in the City of Oceanside. A walk audit is an opportunity for parents to spend 30 to 45 minutes sharing information on the challenges and opportunities they believe could be improved on to enhance their student's ability to walk or bike to school. Do you allow your students to walk or bike to school? Why or why not? Are there specific infrastructure improvements that might improve students walk or roll to school?  Your school community understands the challenges and successes of the streets around your school best – Our hope is that by providing an opportunity for your community to share information directly with the City of Oceanside, we can better understand barriers and challenges to walking and biking. See here for more information on the project.

Do you and your child walk/bike to school? Let us know about your concerns, and what would make you feel safer and more comfortable when walking and biking with your child.

    Digital Citizenship

Digital media and technology are evolving at a rapid pace, both opening up extraordinary opportunities and posing real risks for young people.  Students are using the power of the internet to explore, learn, connect, and create in ways never before imagined- both in and out of the classroom.  However, issues that emerge from this constant “connected culture” are important to address. It’s our role to educate youth about these risks so that they are fully informed users of technology. To read more, please go to the PARENTS tab above and click on DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP............
